Also known as ‘Mischievous Kiss or ‘Naughty Kiss’. It is a 2010 South Korean romantic comedy TV series. It stars Jung So min & Kim Hyun joong. It is based on ‘Itazura na kiss’ by Tada Kaoru.
The Korean adaptation is the third TV adaptation following the Taiwanese ‘It Started with a Kiss’ in 2005 & it’s sequel ‘They Kiss Again’ in 2007. It received low ratings in South Korea but it lead in 12 countries.
Due to it’s popularity a short speciaaaal edition was aired on YOU TUBE after the series finale.
A ditsy & unpopular Oh Ha-Ni is in love with her opposite, Baek Seung Jo, who is a smart & popular boy. He never accepts her feelings. Tension rises when Oh Ha & her father have to live in the same house as Baek Seung Jo & his parents due to unexpected reasons.
I watched the Japanese version first. The ML is cold & rejects her outright. But when she moves in his house he has to tolerate her. He challenges her to appear in the first 100, a big feat for her. But with his help, studying hard she manages 100th rank!
His apprehension while looking at the list displayed is not for his rank but where has she figured! Also she gets injured & he skips his exam. She is the motivating factor when choosing to be a Doctor. With his grades he could be anything!
Also she chooses Nursing to be with him! A realistic goal. Later, he chooses to go to the same college to be with her!!
His mother is a delight! I wish every mother -in -law was this supportive. She goes out of her way for them to fall for each other. The girl needs no nudging but he does. With her clumsiness he gets to know what hwe had been missing in life!
The Japanese actor is excellent. I had hopes for Kim. After ‘Boys Over Flowers’ in a lead role , he does his job. But could have been better. He was our idol. We expected more from him!!!
Jung So min is cute But she later developed into a fine one. ‘My Father is Strange’ 2017, ‘Because this is my First life’ 2017, ‘Alchemy of Souls’ 2022. She was also in the film ‘Twenty’ 2015 .
It leaves you wishing for more.
