Usokon

It is a 2023 Japanese drama. Also known as ‘Our Fake Marriage’ or ‘Lie Marriage’. It stars Kikuchi Fuma, Nagahama Neru, Watanabe Shota, Triendl Reina with others.

It is a 12 episode drama series. Adapted from the manga series ‘Usokon’ by Tokina Kiwi.

Yae, an unremarkable girl working in a cafe & living with a friend finds she cannot afford the rent. Her friend is getting married suddenly & she loses her job on the same day. Her boyfriend also dumps her & she reaches rock bottom.

Her childhood friend Takumi suddenly re -appears in her life. He suggests her to take part-time job as his ‘fake wife’ for 6 months. He has his reasons for wanting people to think he’s married. Yae has no choice but to accept his offer.

A fake marriage that begins as a sham has a time limit. But unknown to Yae, he has feelings for her since childhood & she is his first love. But he knows she had feelings for Kento, so he hesitates.

But now , with an opportunity at hand, does he express his feelings? Can she respond to him ?

It is delicately dealt with. The old man at the office (his boss) or his colleagues who come to check if the marriage is real, all adds to the story.

The story is good.
