Boys over flowers

It is a 2009 South Korean TV series. It stars Koo Hye sun, Lee Min ho, Kim Hyun joong, Kim Bum, Kim joon.

It is regarded as a pioneer in Korean high school series. It also helped the proliferation of the ‘Korean Wave’.

Averaging at 25.7% nationwide & 25.6% in Seoul. The last episode in Seoul was watched by 33.5 % . by Nielson Korea but TNmS holds higher figures. I have n’t seen any drama reaching these figures!!!

After 25 episodes the audience still recorded a whooping figure. The cast was a rage then. Lee ‘s hairstyle & clothes were copied by the youth.

Earlier in 2001, Taiwan ‘Meteor Garden had a great success. In 2005, Japan ‘Hana Yori Dango’ & the latest ‘F4 Thailand Boys Over Flowers’ in 2021, Thailand. All are related, based on the Japanese manga series ‘Boys Over Flowers’ Hana Yori Dango, written by & illustrated by Yoko Kamio.

I saw the Korean drama first. Naturally I have the first impression from the lead pair of Koo Hye sun & Lee Min ho. Along with Kim Hyun joong they swept all the awards then. Not only that they set a very high mark for their successors.

‘Meteor Garden’ & ‘ Hana Yori Dango’ leads look very similar. The girls have the same hairstyle & both the boys have the same look! Jan di & Jun pyo is a pair made for each other.

Kim Hyun joong as Yoon Ji hoo & Rui Hanazawa share a softer look than their friends. In all the versions the actors have been chosen very carefully.

In the Thai version, the girl has a school girl style & the lead has style of his own, but his clothes & hair are natural. Arrogance is natural. In all the versions my favourite character is his sister. She has a guest appearance & I wish she had more footage. All the girls are so sweet.

The mothers are stylish & unique. Perception according to the director, I presume. But control freaks to the core. Of course handling an empire single handedly is no joke!

I am totally against bullying but the character of the girl struggling , rising against the bullies is to go for it! Terrific. I am watching the Japanese & Thai presently.
