On Rotten Tomatoes , some critics say, ‘it is a predictable & dull rom com. It bears little resemblance to reality. Others think, ‘it doesn’t lack charm, it does lack thoughtfulness.’ The main character for the first half of the movie is gross.
The characters could have been more likable. A single mom, her cute daughter, her husband away to save the penguins, cynical journalist it had all the right ingredients. But it could have been better.
The plot line is not new. Yet it keeps you engaged. His mother in a brief role is a delight. With more sensitivity it would be a good film. Like her daughter happy with the skates, we would have loved it.
I loved the way they ended the film. Non messy. Cute.
