Coffee Prince… again!

Finishing the drama, watching it for the nth time was a beautiful journey. After ‘Goblin’ Gong Yoo has risen in stature & become an icon of style, charisma & awe. But here, he is raw & vulnerable. There lies the success of this drama.

All the diamonds assembled were shining. Nobody can complain about the screen time or the significance of the role. The story well knit, well acted & well received! Till date.

On Sept. 23, MBC aired it’s highly anticipated ‘Coffee Prince’ documentary. 13 years later the main cast met up in pairs & discussed their memories from the set.

During it’s run the drama had viewership rating of 27.8% nationwide. In the documentary Gong Yoo visited the cafe where they filmed & said, ‘It feels like my first love. It feels like I am confronting something that I planned to leave as a memory.’

He was surprised by Yoon Eun Hye in the cafe. Both immediately told each other ‘You look exactly the same’. They got their coffee made by someone who had become a barista after watching ‘Coffee Prince’.

At a different location, Chae Jung An & Lee Sun gyun excitedly greeted each other with a big hug. Kim Dong Wook & Kim Jae Wook immediately looked very comfortable with each other.

The three pairs watched some clips from ‘Coffee Prince’. Yoon Eun Hye revealed, ‘After I cut my hair, I didn’t even put makeup & just applied sunscreen’. Regarding his character Gong Yoo shared, ‘He looked like he had no manners but he was different from other chaebols’.

Chae Jung An said, ‘Gong Yoo was more serious than I thought & took care of himself well. He was ambitious. Now, he has become so much cooler Han Gyul looks like such a baby. ‘ She made everyone crack by adding, ‘He looks luxurious now!’ But she is right. Bang on.

Kin Dong Wook finally appeared, Kim Jae Wook commented, ‘Back then your eyes were so innocent!’ How true. I have noticed that. Kim Dong Wook replied, ‘Now, they are sexy’. Sure.

After watching the scene where they all fall into the fountain, Gong Yoo confessed, ‘I tried using tricks so I wouldn’t have to go into the water but I went because you guys pulled me in’. His reluctance & later all of them enjoying was so real. Camera never lies.

With so many firsts, it did so well. It has held it’s position for years. It fascinated the audiences & helped the actors to grow.

A loveable drama.
