It is a 2015 animated fantasy adventure drama film . Directed by Mark Osborne . It is based on the 1943 novella of the same name by Antoine de Saint -Exupery. The film stars the voices of Jeff Bridges, Rachel Mc Adams, Paul Rudd with others.
It is the first adaptation of a full length animated feature of ’The Little Prince’. Made on a budget of $77.5 million it garnered $ 97.6 million. It is the most successful French animated film abroad of all time.
The film relates the story about a young girl who has just met the book’s now elderly aviator narrator. He tells her the story of meeting with the Little Prince in the Sahara desert.
The film premiered at the Cannes Film Festival on 22 May 2015. In an out of competition screening.
Rotten Tomatoes rated it at 93 % with average rating of 7.2 /10. ‘Beautifully animated & faithful to the spirit of it ‘s classic source material. The Little Prince is a family-friendly treat that anchors thrilling visuals with a satisfying story.
The use of stop motion animation takes time to get adjusted to. But later, once we get involved in the story it flows. No stopping there. The decor in the girl ‘s house & the tree, natural garden in the neighbor’s brings stark contrast & so do feelings!
A good story. I love all the stories where a girl is a protagonist. May be Miyazaki hangover.
