An Incurable Case of Love

It is a Japanese manga series written & illustrated by Maki Enjoji. A live action TV drama adaptation aired from January to March 2020. Directed by Kenita Tanaka. It stars Takeru Satoh, Mone Kamishiraishi, Katsuya Maiguma with others.

Nanase Sakura meets & falls in love with a doctor, studies hard & becomes a nurse. When she meets him five years later, she finds he is a completely different person than what she had imagined. She continues to convey her thoughts honestly to Tendo. Eventually it melts Tendo ‘s heart.

Having watched few Japanese series, yet I have seen Takeru ‘s work. Both his ‘First Love ‘& ’Why didn’t I tell you a million Times ?’ are emotional roller coasters. This medical drama is touching & his character enigmatic.

Mone has worked in Miyazaki’s ‘Spirited Away’ live on stage, and done an excellent job as a rookie in this series. Labelled as ‘Warrior’ because she proposed on the first day of her job, as soon as she saw her idol, Dr Tendo. He is called ‘Devil’ by his Cardiology department.

I have seen ‘Doctors’, ‘Doctor Romantic 1& 2’, ‘Doctor Prisoner’ & presently watching ‘Doctor Slump’ but they are all Korean shows. The treatment is different. ’A drop of Sunshine’ or It’s okay to not be okay’ , ‘It’s okay, that ‘s love’ dealt with doctors, patient care & hospitals. How can one forget ‘Hospital Playlist 1 & 2’?

This Japanese drama is in a lighter vein than the shows I have seen earlier. I am enjoying it.
