Nausicaa of the Valley of the Wind

It is a 1984 Japanese post -apocalyptic anime fantasy film. Written & directed by Hayao Miyazaki. It is based on his 1982 manga. It was animated by Topcraft for Tokuma Shoten & Hakuhodo. Joe Hisaishi , in his first collaboration with Miyazaki, composed the score. The voices of Sumi Shimamoto, Goro Naya, Yoji Matsuda with others.

Set in a post nuclear futuristic world, it tells the story of Nausicaa , the teenage princess of the valley of the Wind. She becomes embroilled in a struggle with Tolmekia, a kingdom that tries to use an ancient weapon to eradicate a jungle full of gaint mutant insects.

It is the second highest ranked Japanese anime in a survey published by Japan’s Agency for Cultural Affairs in 2007.

Heavy at times, it has a lot of action. It has been done years ago, but the tale is as modern as can be. The girl saves the world, her people. That is the highlight of the film.
