It is based on the manga The Cat Returns by Aoi Hiiragi. Music by Yuji Nomi & animated by Studio Ghibli. It stars Chizuru Ikewaki, Yoshihiko Hakamada with others. This is Hiroyuki morita’s first & only film as director for Studio Ghibli.
It is a spin-off of Whisper of the Heart. It received an Excellence Prize at the 2002 Japan Media Arts Festival.
Baron : The Cat Returns , the manga has the same story of the girl , Haru who rescues the Cat prince & gets rewarded. The main characters Baron & Muta, help her. The fantasy is so well illustrated. The girl is kind hearted & sweet.
The film was dubbed in English by Walt Disney pictures with voices of Anna Hathaway, Cary Elwes, Pater Boyle & others.
Highest grossing domestic film at the Japanese box office in 2002. Also 7th highest grossing film of the year overall. The film grossed a total of $ 65 million at the box office.
