My Mister

Seems to be stuck here. I am not yet ready to move on to any other drama. Lee Sun kyun’s early & untimely demise led to prolonged mourning. The premise where his life is far from perfect, he lives for ours.

‘Sacrificing oneself’ is not living. Phone tapping, the yellow envelope with the gift vouchers, he has lived it all. While emoting they go through so much. He should have taken help. Asked his so many friends to pull him through.

‘Parasite’ director asking for probe will do nothing. All is lost. His wife & two teenage sons will have to live with it forever.

In the drama, IU asks his wife why she did it. She had cheated. She replies ,’I can think of 100 reasons, or 1000 but none rings true.’ Destroying one’s family can never be justified.

When he knows about IU’ s past, she has killed a person. He says , ‘It is not a big deal. It is nothing’ Why couldn’t he think that. It was possible to forget & move ahead. Making amends.

We know every problem comes with a solution. Why didn’t he find one ? Maybe his image of a family man got broken. There are ways to mend, to repent, to move on. Not being there, we can only speculate.

The loan shark who had harassed IU, upon hearing that ‘he has forgotten how kind he was’ has tears in his eyes. He cannot forgive her for killing his father. He also remembers taking care of her. Carrying her piggyback to her house.

On the run, he dispatches the recordings to Mr Park Dong hoon. He knows that Mr Park is the right person to approach. The wrong doer, Mr Do would ‘ve walked scott free because of lack of proof against him.

Justice is done. The loan shark becomes her nemesis. Why could n’t Mr Lee wait for justice ? All the patience he has or had did not help. Right from ‘Coffee Prince’ I have seen him as a patient person. All of it cannot be acting!

In all his dramas he had woman problems. In ‘Coffee Prince’ he had an artist as his girlfriend. She would be there living with him & suddenly take off with another person. The other girl cute, boyish just admired him. She was smitten by his cousin right from the beginning.

In ‘Pasta’ studying in Italy, he had a gorgeous girlfriend. But she cheats & his recipe spoils. She gets the award. Disheartened he leaves, breaking up with her. Later he meets a hardworking girl who falls for him. In his kitchen his policy is ‘No Women’ but he has to work with the diligent kitchen help.

In “My Mister’ he has a wife who cares for her work. She assumes he is happy with his mother & two brothers. With their only son in US, she has time to have an affair with her husband’s colleague.

IU enters as a temporary worker & wiretaps his cell phone. She has been ordered to date him. But she actually falls for him. She is 21 & he is 45. An uproar in the media & by the critics was smoothed by the unfolding drama. There can be a warm & soothing relationship between a man & a woman.

Their platonic relation helps all the people who come in their contact. The politics at the company only strengthens their bond. What I admired was his wife acknowledging her help. ‘ At least you were by his side.’ Need we say more?

In ‘Jo Pil ho : The dawning rage’ he is a corrupt homicide detective. He takes the help of a teenage girl to uncover the conspiracy. His wife is supportive & has no role in his wrongdoings.

The teenage girl with her friend manage to handle him well. They help him & also help him to get caught. Finally, he is being taken away by the police when he sees the girl laughing with her friends.

Watching his ‘Diary of a Prosecutor’ & trying to get over.
