It is an Indian Hindi language black comedy crime thriller TV series by Netflix. It premiered on 11 Jan, 2024 on Netflix. Directed by Abhishek Chaubey. It stars Konkana Sen Sharma & Manoj Bajpayee in the lead roles. It was previously titled as ‘Soup’. It is loosely based on 2017 case in Telangana.
In the fictional hill station of Mainjur, Tamil Nadu, an aspiring yet talentless Nurse turned home chef, Swathi, conspires to replace her husband, Prabhakar Shetty with her lover & Prabhakar’s squint eyed doppleganger, Umesh Pillai.
The critics have given it four out of five stars. NDTV said it is witty, cunning & incredibly amusing. Zinia Bandyopadhyay writes the performers do their jobs almost well. As a policeman, Nasser stood out. Shows cinematography is one item that merits discussion. The tale is given so much depth by the closeup views.
It gets better with every next episode. The first episode is too dark. But once you overcome that, the story flows.
I am not one to relish a dark comedy. But the leads made me to go for it. Unrealistic opinions about self, leading to destruction. If… Only if… are the doubts that keep cropping up in my mind.
