Mine

It is a 2021 South Korean TV series. Directed by Lee Na jung. It stars Lee Bo young, Kim Seo-hyung, Lee hyun-wook & Ok Ja yeon. It is the first Korean drama to feature a lesbian as a lead character.

The story revolves around strong women who free themselves from the prejudices of society to find their true ‘mine’. It also concerns the lives of members of a wealthy family & their servants.

The drama was initially known as ‘Blue Diamond’. It received five nominations of which only Kim Seo hyung received the ’Most stylish Female in a drama’ in 2021.

The viewership of the show jumped from 6.5% to 10.512 % at the finale. Right from the first episode the show is gripping. Good. We are entering a mine field with grim characters. The intricate, complicated relations & the hovering servants, maids at your beck and call.

A death or murder is shown without any details. We assume it’s a female but who? With her heels & hand , nails we assume she is young. The mystery remains.

Lee Bo young is as fresh & delightful as always. Kim Seo hyung as poised as ever. Ok Ja yeon as suspicious as can be. She dances in the hall at night & wears Bo young’s gown to show off. She is non nonchalant at wearing her employer’s clothes. She is Bo young’s son’s tutor.

Cha Hak yeon or N as he is popularly known. He started with ‘The Heirs’ but then we had eyes for the leads. in ‘Castaway Diva’ he is good. Also has a memorable role. So, I planned to see more of his work.

Right from his entry, the show gets a face lift. Some of the tension is released. Does it increase later? We need to find out, later.
