It is a 2023 Indian teen musical comedy film. Directed by Zoya Akhtar & produced with Reema Kagdi. The film features the fictional musical band produced by & related to Archie Comics. It stars Agastya Nanda, Khushi Kapoor, Suhana Khan, Vedang Raina, Mihir Ahuja, Aditi Saigal & Yuvraj Menda.
It premiered at the 54th International Film festival of India on 22 November 2023 & was released on 7 December, 2023 on Netflix. It has got mixed to negative reviews from critics.
Set in 1960s India, Archie & his friends navigate romance, friendship & the future of Riverdale as developers threaten to destroy a beloved park.
It is shot across Ooty & Mumbai. Riverdale has scenic beauty for the greens in Ooty are picturesque.
Shubra Gupta of The Indian Express says ‘Khushi has more verve than both Agastya & Suhana , but I will also say that the latter did grow on me’ Ditto.
Jhunjhunwala found Khushi a bit stiff in her dance moves & speech & Agastya likable though a touch diffident in his timbre.
They did get a sounding board but they need to get used to the camera like newcomers. Nepotism does give a chance but they have to prove themselves. Audiences are perceptive & have their own choices.
On Rotten Tomatoes, 54% of 13 critics’ reviews are positive with average rating of 5.4 / 10.
They need a better script to showcase their talent. They are promising but need opportunity.
