20th century Girl

The end was known or the bucketful of tears was decided. First love or an incomplete story is not new. Yet, when the presentation changes, everything does.

She is the 90s girl, rather than 20s I gathered. Today, girls are more bold & determined. They can take their own steps. Although cute, friendship is friendship. Be it brother or here, her best friend, liking someone is a done thing. Also sacrificing for your friend I don’t know if it gels.

‘Castaway Diva’ has both brothers falling for her. But Ki ho’s brother keeps his feelings to himself. I wonder how right it is. Only their father knows it. One sided love. Does it go away later?

I remember reading a story about a young woman accompanying her mother to a hill station, Igatpuri. Quiet place for resting. They get introduced to a lady, residing there. She is from Mumbai. Later her son comes to pick her up.

Our young lady & the boy look at each other. Mustering her courage she decides to talk to him the next day . A taxi is about to leave & she watches the mother -son getting in. Again they just look at each other. With so many things left unsaid.

What if he had taken time to talk to her? What if she had halted them for a moment to know their details? Would something work out between them? So many questions chased me for days.

The open ended stories bother me. I like closure. I know if they had shown him coming back would be a happy end. A cliche . But we need it. ‘Doona’ also raised so many questions. If really they wanted us to observe & draw conclusions, it was a fairy tale come true.

At least she got the boy in the end. Her ‘Uncontrollably Fond’ & ‘Vagabond’ have very uneasy ends. Today, we would like to have the next season to get all the answers. Good ones, of course!
