Watching the series I realized, the stories are linked. Some directly the others are just in the background. Also the pandemic looms large. We have faced the extraordinary circumstances & came out unscathed.
The third story, ‘The Color of You’. A charming hairstylist develops feelings for a blind woman he meets on the subway. She is not blind & she is not the only one in his life. This tale of deception unfolds just the way we think. Yet holds you till the end.
The fourth one, ‘From Beyond the Stars’ follows a romance writer Yao Chih-hsuan is sure she is an accidental time traveler. Nobody believes her but her mysterious neighbor. It reminded me of ‘My Love from the Star’ & felt very nostalgic.
5. The Perfect Dodgeball Game’ is a story of Chio hao offering his intern to stay at his place. The intern is hung up on his girlfriend & wants her to call him back. As the senior & intern share the same roof, complications arise.
6. Something Old has Fang Jo nam without a job or home. Her ex boyfriend Joe helps her. But the shadows of their past soon emerge. Finally, she leaves his place to move to a rented one.
His possessiveness becomes claustrophobic for her. She needs her care free life. But the end leaves us with questions.
7.The Promise of Karuizawa. Chang wei meets Ting yu while tracking their respective unfaithful spouses. Later they have to face the consequences of their actions. Not a new theme but the handling is good.
It could have been great without a couple of scenes. We get the drift. The actors are great. They live their roles.
8.Head of the Family. Pandemic forces a couple to swap their traditional home duties, till a family member with old traditional views shows up at their door. The woman has recently resumed her office after two children. Her husband unemployed, is coping with the household duties.
Mother arriving suddenly causes chaos. Is it the same everywhere ? Why can’t she just sit back & enjoy? Or perhaps lend a helping hand ??
The stories are all good. I am coming to the last two & wrapping up the series.
