It is a 2023 Japanese movie.It stars Ryo Hoshixawa & Aoi Miyazaki. The Japanese title of the film is ‘Crazy Cruise’. With over 4000 guests & crew aboard the ship, one can imagine the variety of people & issues that surface.
Ryo plays a butler on a luxury cruise who is completely devoted to his job. So perfect with his job, he allows a guest to to step on his back for better cell phone signal reception. The captain praises him for being ‘her electric rod’! Actually, her trouble shooter.
He crosses paths with Chizuru Banaku, claims that she is not a guest. She then tells him they both are being cheated on. Their respective partners are seeing each other! ( Not new or unheard of) Yet, his miserable face makes it a grave mistake.
Actually, he is looking forward to his wedding once ashore. So this piece of information comes as a shock. He is still getting over his fiancee not getting on the ship because ‘something came up!’ Now, he knows what!!!
Without loud music or jerky camera action, the story moves slowly. Yet it hooks you. Suddenly an old man, Mr Kuruma, falls in the swimming pool. But be the time the captain is fetched, the body disappears. The witnesses turn hostile.
It progresses to a predictable end. But makes a good watch.
