It is a short documentary made in 2011. Through the powerful story of its young & gutsy protogonist, Reshma Valiappan, triumphing over schizophrenia. Directed by Aparna Sanyal. Cinematography by Yasir Abbasi.
Within 40 minutes it captures the story. Tries to change our view about the sickness. It proposes that the only treatment that can work is the one wherein the ‘patient’ is encouraged & empowered to become an equal partner in the process of healing.
Aparna Sanyal has worked extensively on documentaries is a national award winner. Her work reflects her self perfectly. She has made it an work of art.
Without feeling any guilt or pity Reshma is is just any teenager you know. Modern, hep & confident. Her language also unapologetic.
If only the stigma gets removed & people treat them as people, it would work wonders!
Excellent!
