Doona!

It is a 2023 South Korean streaming series. Directed by Lee jeong hyo. It stars Bae Suzy & Yang Se jong. It revolves around a college student, Won -jun who becomes roommates with Doo-na, a retired K-pop idol who leaves behind her glamorous days. It is based on ‘The Girl Downstairs’ by Min Song ah.

It was released on Netflix on 20th October, 2023. It has 9 episodes.

the opening scene shows Won jun shifting in a new place. He wants to save time & study. He entrusts his friend to take care of his mother now, as he is away. His friend is a huge fan of Doo na. His car has her picture hanging on a thread, above the dashboard.

Incidentally, he becomes her neighbor. When she accuses him of being her stalker, he realizes, she is Doo na! She is continuously smoking.

As main vocalist, singing on stage & then sinking in the water are just images that are yet to be connected. But there is a pathos around. Dark, gloomy, like her mood.

The director sure has a unique style. We expect more, now that he was so successful with the iconic ‘Crash landing on You’!
