Lookism (manhwa) is a South Korean Webtoon written & directed by Park Tae joon. The webtoon was first published weekly on Naver Webtoon in Nov 2014. An aeni adaptation by Studio Mir was released globally on Netflix in Dec. 2022.
The story revolves around a high school student , Park Hyung seok , who can switch between two bodies, one fat & ugly & the other fit & handsome. He is voiced by Han Shin in the series.
Daniel’s design was inspired by model Park Hyung seok. The manhwa created by Park Tae joon is also a model.
A 38 episode Chinese TV series based on Lookism was made in 2019. The Korean animated series has only 8 episodes. It was set to be released on 4 Nov. but was delayed to December 8, 2022 due to the Seoul Halloween crowd crush. Ateez performed the series theme song ‘Like That’.
It is interesting to note how much one’s appearance matters. People are staring at Park hyung seok but for different reasons.
