Episode fifth titled ‘Ripples’ has Miyo accepting the kimono Kiyoka bought for her. Incidentally, it has the same design of cherry blossoms that her mother wore. The soft colours go well with her skin tone.
Kouji’s father shows Kaya the photo of Miyo & Kiyoka. She recognises himas the beautiful man she had seen coming out of her house. He also informs her that Miyo is getting along fine with him. As he expected Kaya gets jealous.
When she realises that Miyo’s engagement cannot be broken, she offers Kouji a chance to marry Miyo like he wished. Now here, when she moved to his place she knew she was with a man who liked her sister. But because it was then the best option she agreed. But dazzled by Kiyoka’s looks & position she wants to break up with Kouji!
She would ‘ve been delighted to see Miyo on the streets by Kiyoka & nowhere to go. She actually wished it to happen. She had earlier said so when she met Miyo. Also having a maid Yurie , with her had enraged Kaya then.
Miyo has a nightmare & gets comforted by Kiyoka. In the morning, she prepares bento & goes to Kiyoka’s office to deliver it with Yurie. She has left her protective amulet at home. But realises too late & gets kidnapped on her way. Yurie rushes to Kiyoka & informs him.
Kouji discovers that his father had known of Miyo’s abuse. But he had done nothing because her timid personality was suited to his plans. Now he knows that his father & Kaya are plotting against Miyo. He attacks his father only to be defeated & restrained. Kazushi frees him & encourages him to go help Miyo. He goes to Kiyoka & begs to help Miyo.
Kiyoka is his rival. But his goal remains helping Miyo. After judging by his father’s strength, he knows he cannot do anything alone. He puts away his pride & enlists Kiyoka’s help! His faith in the other’s strength & strong will to help Miyo is heartening. Hope above all.
In the myriad of the story, the characters come out alive. With their emotions & personalities that makes it an interesting watch.
A stage play at the Theatre 1010 in Tokyo from August 11-20 , 2023 will be lovely to watch. With Agitogi, the original author, co-operating in the production will be a plus.
