Going to a recital in the evening, is a rare feat. With multimedia blaring & leaving the comfort of the warm haven we all call home! But it was a sudden urge that saw in in a dim lit theatre.
On stage were a few artist, unknown. With the exception of the lead singer, Vidyatai Oak. She has a commanding voice that can bring out all the emotions for you.
The violin, harmonium players had dark glasses. One of the singer, Dattatraya Mane also with dark glasses & a beautiful voice. He had a laykari, unimaginable. What I wondered is that the performing arts need the response of the audience. We need to see!
With the Lions club & National association of the blind they brought a concert, for free. The response wasn’t what we would like. But the few present certainly loved it.
Another student of SMRK College, Gautami Wagh, studying in second year BA was a total surprise. “Padmanabha, Narayana…” Padmanabha must have nodded his head in pleasure!
After a good three hours it came to an end with a promise to help the needy & how much they need your help!
Used to the glittering stage on TV or the popular shows, it was a total anticlimax. We are so used to a stage adorned that it was a shock to have only one banner with it’s title & nothing.
Brings in the harsh reality of what is & how far we have to go,yet !
