Fidaa (trans. Spellbound) is a 2017 Indian Telugu language romantic, comedy film. Written & directed by Sekhar Kammula. The film stars Varun Tej, Sai Pallavi ( in her Telugu debut) in the lead.
The plot follows a love hate relationship between Bhanumati, a strong minded village girl & her brother-in-law , an NRI from the US.
Made on a budget of 13 crores it garnered est. 91 crores. The film won four Filmfare awards from nine nominations. Sai Pallavi’s performance was ranked amongst 100 Greatest performances of the Decade by Film Companion. Also, the film is considered one of the 25 greatest Telugu films of the decade.
It was the seventh highest grossing Telugu film of that year. It is dubbed into Malayalam & Hindi under the same title, in Tamil as Bhanumati.
The principal photography commenced in Banswada of Telangana, Texas & Colorado. The locales are beautiful. Treat to the eyes.
The predictable plot is enjoyable only due to the fresh faces. They bring their characters to life & take us on a delightful journey.
