Fatherhood

It is a 2021 American comedy drama film. Directed by Paul Weitz. From a screenplay by Weitz & Dana Stevens based on the 2011 memoir Two Kisses for Maddy: A Memoir of Loss & Love by Matthew Logelin.

The film stars Kevin Hart, Alfre Woodard, Frankie R. Faison, Lil Rel Howery, DeWanda Wise, Anthony Carrigan, Melody Hurd & Paul Reiser. It follows a new father who struggles to raise his daughter after the sudden death of his wife.

It is a real life drama showing all the characters with substance. Finally all comes together for Maddy!

It is not only the mother but also the father who changes after childbirth. It is a natural process in maturation. It makes one realise responsibility towards another person. The feelings may flow in the form of a poetry, song, article or a story. But flow it must.

‘Anupama’ the iconic hindi film has the father never loving his daughter for losing his wife. Same about the Marathi film ‘Maherchi Sadi’ where the father cries for his daughter only at the end of the movie. But all had grudges personified, amplified.

A father in ‘Kabhi khushi Kabhi gham’ had to raise his two daughters but he does so with the help of his neighbours. He dies but his daughters are cared for.

‘Extraordinary Attorney Woo’ had a lawyer father having a special child. She proved herself & set herself in an attorney’s office. His anxiety got to us. He is apprehensive about a guy interested in her, who turns out to be a gem!

This bond between a father & his daughter is unique. His love boundless, unspoken. This deprived child grows up stronger physically & mentally. Single parenting is taxing. But full of joys, tears & new goals to be reached.

An ongoing journey towards perfection.
