The Hows of Us

It is a 2018 Filipino Romantic comedy film. Directed by Cathy Garcia Molina. It stars Kathryn Bernardo & Daniel Padilla. They were recognised as Phenomenal Box Office stars & was given the Golden Jury Award & honours at the 50th Guillermo Box Office Entertainment Awards & received Camera Obscura Award for it’s success worldwide.

Box office collection was 810 million. It marked a second collaboration with the lead pair by Garcia Molina. After the 2014 hit film ‘She’s Dating the Gangster’.

The film is a story about the young couple Primo & George who dream of growing old together. As their feelings go deep for each other, they have to deal with everyday struggles. Paying bills, working & having a long term relationship.

She aspires to be a doctor. I found it similar to the Hindi film ‘Saathiya’ which had Rani Mukherji , a doctor away on a medical camp in their initial dating days. Also running a household takes a toll.

‘Chalta Chalte’ another Hindi film with Rani had problems after marriage. The rosy glasses give way to the harsh reality!

They visit Amsterdam. To find her father with her brother, Yohan, who has an eye condition. His father has left before his birth. If the surgery doesn’t go well, he wants to see his father, once!

Tulips are not available. The other flower farm is equally beautiful. Reminds of ‘Dilwale Dulhania Le jayenge’ a film with Shahrukh & Kajol. Beautiful song shot in the mustard fields.

But we have tulips in ‘Dekha Ek Khwab to …’ from Hindi film Silsila with Amitabh & Rekha in the blooming tulips! Also our own “Queen” Kangana Ranaut visited Amsterdam on her solo honeymoon trip!!

The street singers can be seen in ‘Jab Tak hai Jaan’ a Yash Chopra film. Singing regional song is a given then.

‘Full House’ 2004 Korean drama with Rain & Song Hye kyo had everything that we wish for. The house was hers to begin with. But her friends sell it to Rain, without her knowledge.

‘Full house ‘ Philippine Tv drama 2009 is based on a manhwa series of teh same title by Won Soo yeon. She has also written the korean version.

This film’s story is not novel, but the take is soft, sensitive. Hence lauded by the audience. A Good experience.
