It is a 2012 Filipino romantic drama. Starring Angel Locsin, Angelica Panganiban, Ding dong Dantes, Zanjoe Marudo. Directed by Ruel Bayani, it was one of the eight official entries to the 2012 Metro Manila Film Festival.
A blockbuster hit, it earned many accolades. Best Picture, Best Actor for Dantes & Best Actress award for Locsin.
Grace is a single mother ready to sacrifice everything for her son, Botchok. She is happy with her son & boyfriend. But her son suffers from a rare blood disease & needs bone transplant.
She is forced to reconnect with the boy’s biological father, Dantes. He is happily married to a successful wife, Jacq. The reconnection with Grace starts to taint Edward & Jacqueline’s life.
It has uncanny similarity with the Chinese film ‘In Love We Trust’ released in 2007. But the Chinese film follows a divorced couple who discover their daughter is dying of leukemia. Doctors inform them that the child can be saved with stem cells from an umbilical cord blood of a sibling.
Both parents have since remarried. the film follows the emotional strain that this development brings to both marriages. In 2008, at the 58th Berlin International Film Festival it won Silver Bear for Best Screenplay.
‘One more Try’ was initially named as ‘In Love we trust’. Later it was changed to ‘One more Try’.
Cinema Evaluation Board has given it an ‘A’ certificate.
