Shehzada

A 2023 Indian Hindi language film. Starring Kartik Aryan, Kriti Sanon, Paresh Rawal, Manisha Koirala, Ronit Roy, Sachin Khedekar, Aishwarya Narkar. A glossy film with little substance.

I wished for a simple, starry drama. The flick is just that. With slow action fights like any South Indian film. The age old formula of exchanging babies in the hospital. After the secret is revealed, none of the rich guys take offense.

Instead I saw the ‘rags to riches’ boy Kartik thanking the culprit Paresh Rawal & gifting him a new Vespa scooter! Presumably he was given a survival training better than the other guy who lived for 25 years in the mansion! So there.

Kriti Sanon is the same. She is given a comfortable role. Falling for her new employee who later becomes rich. Incidentally she is chosen to marry the rich one but falls for the poor one who later gets rich!

Are people getting used to such switches? The father Ronit, mother Mainsha have nothing to say to their wronged employee! The grandfather Sachin Khedekar does have rage in his eyes for a moment but it just melts.

I mean if people are becoming this forgiving, the place is next to heaven or becoming heaven? But the usual dialogue baazi is absent & somewhere I needed it! We pine for things that we expect in such a flick.

It has song & dance. Mauritius & huge sprawling mansion with huge rooms. I did not see anybody really struggling. Good. Education, upbringing is getting effortless. We worry needlessly.

A glossy, perky, predictable film. A good time pass. Nothing serious about it.
