After the second episode, the viewership has picked up from 4.9-5.4 % to 7.7- 8.6%. It is a family drama with a bit of comedy. The poster has the reluctant housewife in the door frame being dragged out by herself in a white coat.
A brilliant female medical student who could not complete her residency. She slogged for her family for 20 years. Now, her first born is a first year resident! But she has cleared her entrance exam with a wonderful score of 49 out of 50! Higher than her son!!
Watch her husband enjoying music because she got rejected. Out of the four applicants only three could get in. She was rejected because she had a liver transplant & was much older than the rest. ‘Old, very old!’ how can someone say this to a woman on her face? So the rejection was 200 % sure.
Yet we see her in a white coat with none other than Dr Choi Seung hee! She is her husband’s first love. 20 years had made her forget the name but her dermatologist friend Baek Joo hee reminds her.
How did she join the group, we will know in the next episode. The war is full on! Denying her the rightful place & making her work like a slave for years, nothing new I believe. Rarely do women get their share of worth.
Getting pregnant early & missing on the opportunities that her husband had was bad. The child had to be taken care of by the mother! He got to travel to US & continue with his first love! She is married with a daughter, then divorced. Or was she? Her infatuation looks like the same when they were in college.
Incidentally all three were in the same batch. At the hospital she clearly denies to remember, when the resident interviewees were discussed but is quick to advise the husband to not be a donor to his wife. Shaman had told her she had one opportunity! Did she wish the other one to die?
The doctor denying his wife an organ because his mother forbid it! What if the situation were different? It would be her duty to donate. The mother-in-law would have have had a fit if she had said’ no’!
Denying small things in life like purchasing clothes, bags or luxury items when money is never the issue. I know it is all in the mind. Treating her to a meal in an expensive restaurant & offering her the used car. Only an year old so as good as new! Looking at her bag if it is a knock off!! Why? why can’t a daughter-in-law buy expensive things when she wishes to do so??
She has sacrificed her youth for the family. Been there for 20 years no less. I remember ‘Mrs Pearson ‘ from ‘Mother’s Day’ & how the family treats her. Mrs Pearson is the stay-at-home mother with two children, Doris & Cyril & a spouse, George.
Not making breakfast or pressing clothes… Mrs Fitzgerald takes over to open their eyes. Our mothers are generally taken for granted, we become old, mature but expect her to do the chores for us!
I loved the way it is depicted without being hurtful. Looking forward to the weekend like never before.
