It is a 2020 Filipino drama film directed by Maria Ancheta. It stars Jelson Bay, Sue Ramirez, Sandy Andolong. It revolves around a successful businessman, Brix, who flies to Morocco, to fulfil his mother’s wish.
After 25 years his mother meets him. Says she missed him. But dies of heart attack before he can do anything. From the letters she has written over the years he tries to find why she left him.
He meets Cathy her adopted daughter who runs a bed & breakfast, Brine, started by her mother Sophie & Agnes,her adoptive mother.
Filming took place in Marrakesh, Morocco. Initially the script called for a romantic comedy story but Ancheta had the script revised to a ‘personal journey’ story of a person with some light drama elements.
Brix changes to becoming more humane & asking his secretary to choose a restaurant for him. being a very private person he has never been married or in a relationship but his experience in Morocco, all the places where his mother was, give him an insight that his own place had never given.
Cathy is just like his mother & as his feelings change. This is the time when the story focuses on his insight. He gives away the bed & breakfast to her. Knowing that now it is in good hands & he is not disposing it off to the highest bidder!
He takes home Agnes’s painting from Morocco to his place in Philippines. Now it has come home! The trees , roots that she always drew now are in place!
A beautiful journey. It also has a gem. ‘Every parent is not perfect. But they love their children unconditionally’ May I add. No one else does it for you in this world!
