Kill Boksoon

It is a 2023 South Korean crime action film. Written & directed by Byun Sung-hyun. It stars Jeon Do yeon, Sol Kyung gu, Esom, Koo Kyo hwan & Kim Si-a.It premiered on Netflix on March 31, 2023.

The film was officially invited to the Berlinale special section at the 73rd Berlin International Film festival. It had it’s world premiere on Feb. 18, 2023.

Gil Bok soon , a legendary killer in a contract killing industry gets caught up in an unavoidable confrontation just before renewing her contract with the company. At home she is a single mother to a teenage daughter. Killing is easy. Parenting is hard.

Right from the first scene, a hardened Jeon Do-yeon makes her presence felt. She has chosen a genre far away from her earlier ‘Crash course in Romance’. But again she is a single mother! Her concerns remain the same. She has to earn & then cannot be with her child as much as she would’ve liked.

The chairman of MK.Ent. Cha Min kyu played by Sol Kyung gu is perfect. He has a thing for Boksoon but never shows it. Besides keeping her close, giving her the choicest assignments. Esom as Cha Min hee, his younger sister, is her closest enemy. Envies her because she is, Boksoon, her brother’s favourite!

Lee Jae wook as the young Cha Min kyu has only one scene when he meets the young Boksoon. But he does it to a T! I always wonder how can he be at all places. He has a cameo in so many shows, I have lost track.

Kim Si-a as Gil Jae young is so cute. The daughter who learns about her mom’s work in the end. As she leaves the school & says goodbye to her friends, she smiles. The same one her mother once had!! GOD.

The name reminds of ‘Kill Bill’ a film of 2023. A wronged Uma Thurman is set to seek revenge on her boss & his associates. The fights are many that she endures.

The violence & blood all over start getting too much. Of course, I never really like to get out of my comfort zone. But then killing close associates cannot be justified!

A good action film.
