It is a 2017 South Korean fantasy TV series. It stars Lee Seung-gi, Oh Yeon -seo, Cha Seung-won, Lee Hong-gi, Jang Gwang. Written by the Hong sisters, it is a masterpiece. The drama is a modern spin-off of the Chinese classic 16th century novel “Journey to the West”.
Son Oh-gong is bound to his protective role towards Jin Seon mi , the little girl he met years ago. After 25 years, he meets her again. She tells him, she had desperately waited to meet him. Her declaration makes him uneasy.
He is wearing that thick outrageous fur coat which befits ‘The Devil wears Prada’ Miranda Pries aka Meryl Streep!
He learns that he needs to eat Sam jang to become powerful. But Sam jang who he wants to eat happens to be Jin Seon -mi!
In the first episode, he declares he did not come to protect but wants to ‘eat her’!
I mean a show cannot get more interesting than this! I have been meaning to see this show since ages. Really!!
Lee Seung -gi in ‘My girlfriend is a Gumiho’ 2010, ‘Gu Family Book’ 2013, ‘ Vagabond’ 2019, still waiting for ‘Vagabond’ 2 like all the others. He has never failed to amaze me.
Oh Yeon -seo in ‘My Sassy girl’ 2017, ‘Mad for Each other’ 2021, ‘Cafe Minamdang’ 2022 has her assaying different roles. The latest probably was the best right from her entry. She has her own style.
