A Marathi Language short film made in Jan 2023. About 29 minutes long. Directed by Bansidhar Kinkar. It features Deepti Devi, Chinmay Udgirkar.
It is a story of unplanned first meeting of eligible bachelor boy & girl in their late twenties, pressurised by their parents to get married & settle down.
The film credits begin with the mixer whirling & the bustle in the kitchen. No visuals. So effective. Later we see the family of four around the dining table on a Sunday morning. The mother is worried about her first born rejecting 99 boys.
As the conversation moves to the last proposal being rejected by the boy, she is piqued by why the boy rejected her. She want to know the reason. She gets the address & finds that he lives in the same colony.
She marches up to his house to meet him personally. Finds his playing guitar, teaching his sister & having his ‘me’ time. They talk over a cup of tea, he made, & she convinces him to accept the proposal so she can have a record of zero rejection!
As he accompanies her to the lift, she is having all kinds of emotions. Both the actors are superb. Controlled, expressive & never going overboard. He urges her to say ‘no’ immediately. His family is elated at getting a ‘yes’!
