Satish Kaushik

An Indian actor who died recently on 9 March was a director, producer, comedian & a screenwriter.A Kirori Mal College alumni, NDFT graduate he worked in Mumbai all his life.

‘Calender’ in Mr India, Pappu Pager in ‘Deewana Mastana’ he lighted the screen. In the 90s when the Hindi films were stuck in a rut, he had not much to do. But he found meaning in those small roles of his & entertained.

He wrote dialogues for Kundan Shah’s classic ‘Jaane Bhi do Yaaro’ 1983.

He was different from Anupam Kher or Deven Varma but had a place of his own. With so many talents he was always busy. The failures were never a set back. He emerged out more than often.

His directorial venture Sridevi’s ‘Roop ki rani, Choron ka raja’ 1993, an magnum opus & made in their rising years failed at the box office. His second was ‘Prem’ 1995 Tabu’s inaugural film was also a disaster.

He got his first hit with ‘Hum Aapke dil mein rehte hain’ 1999.

He was working on ‘Tansen’ with Abhishek Bachchan. He had decided to make a sequel of his hit film ‘Tere Naam’ 2003, ‘Tere Naam’ 2.

He was last seen celebrating holi at Javed Akhtar & Shabana’s place.

Delhi police have found some objectionable medicines from the farmhouse he was in. He felt uneasy after his dinner. Connections are being made, investigation will go on. But we lost a good man. The loss is huge.
