A 2022 Indian Hindi language crime thriller film. Directed by Abhishek Pathak. It stars Ajay Devgn, Akshaye Khanna, Tabu, Shriya Saran, Ishita Dutta with others. It is a remake of 2021 Malayalam film of the same name & a sequel to the 2015 film ‘Drishyam’.
Made on a budget of 50 crore it garnered est. 343.42 crores. In India it entered the 100 crore club within six days of it’s release. Highest grossing Hindi film of 2022 & 35th highest grossing Indian film of all times.
Shalini Langer of the Indian Express gave 3 out of 5 stars. ‘It deftly picks up from where the two main protagonists, both fierce parents, left off in Drishyam. It’s execution is not as smooth as the last time though’ she writes. Sonil Dedhia of News 18 also gave it a 3. ‘It doesn’t feel nearly as tense or urgent as it ought to be. It’s plot is simply isn’t as deliciously complex as it could have been.As a result , it’s a watchable film but not an unforgettable one.’
Anindita Mukherjee of India Today rated the film 2.5 & wrote ‘Ajay Devgn’s Drishyam 2 has plenty of nail biting moments but it will somewhere leave you missing 2015 film, Drishyam’.
That about sums it up. ‘Drishyam’ was an experience. This is just a good film. But being a sequel it is good. It can also be regarded as a stand alone film. It is good.
