Crash Course In Romance

It is an ongoing South Korean TV series. Directed by Yoo Je won. It stars Jean Do yeon, Jung Kyung ho. The series follows a banchan shop owner who belatedly enters the war of Korea’s college entrance exams & a top hagwon instructor.

Only two episodes old, the story rushes you in the cut throat competition in the field of education. Obtaining a seat in the coaching class, long queues, the over pushy parents, the aspiring students… doesn’t it feel familiar???

Jung Kyung ho I know from his various projects but Jean Do yeon being a picky player, is new. She is hailed as an accomplished actress & it shows! She is good. Her choices have been always unorthodox. Many young actresses have cited her as a role model.

Roh Yoon seo as her niece is excellent. After ‘Our Blues’ she is again a student in school. She is a natural. She looks every inch the student. Oh Eui shik is her uncle. he is one to be taken care of. But when he takes a photo of the tiger on the coat of Jung Kyung ho things start rolling!

Lee Bong ryun as the other helper in the shop is forever supportive. She has fabricated a story to cover her friend’s single mother status & wishes her to marry a decent guy. Have a life of your own! But for Jean Do yeon her niece comes first!

Jang Young nam as the lawyer, an ambitious mother. Kim Sun young as mother to a young daughter who is very ambitious. She is angry that Nam Hae yi also got in the Maths academy. She fears her coveted first place is under threat.

In the drama ‘At Eighteen’ Kim Sun young was the ambitious mother to Kim Hyung gi. She gets to know Ong Seong wu’s mother, who runs a restaurant. Considers her as a true friend. The class difference & finances are a major bane.

Viewership is good with 4 & 5% after just two episodes. Light & fast paced, it makes good viewing.
