Poong, the Joseon Psychiatrist

After being banished out of the Royal palace. the chief acupuncturist had been roaming the countryside for an year. Then he finds Gyesu clinic with a geeky doctor Gye Ji han. The doctor helps him to find his confidence.

His last patient was the king himself. While treating him for his boils he kills him. Actually his surgical blade made of silver shows darkening. The blade must have been poisoned. Who did it & how was he framed remains the mystery.

The Royal inspector has the blade. He wants to find out the real culprit. He is also given the task of getting rid of the physician, Yoo Se yeop.

After saving the widow, Seo Eun woo,he is training her to become the physician. She is a quick study. She is reading books & using her skills under his guidance. They free the Noble lady Hyo yeon from her fiance. She had been having hand tremors. Also the killing of her servant, Gaeban, is solved.

Then Seok cheol , the illegitimate son of Lord Jo, comes to their clinic. He is bright & better in studies than his two half brothers. The tussle between Seok cheol ‘s mother, concubine of Lord Jo & Lord Jo’s wife is causing the child to fall sick. Seo Eun woo & Yoo Se yeop are able to free him from the house & set out for further education.

Feeling the pulse & placing the needles at the right points is making Seo Eun woo more confident. Getting a purpose in life after her struggles with her mother-in-law is great. Flashes of the ‘Rookie Historian Goo Hae Ryung’ come to mind. Her ever supportive brother made it possible for her.

In ‘Sungkyunkwan Scandal’ the young, talented Kim Yoon hee enrolls in a prestigious university . She is poor & helps others with selling her notes to the entrants. But being a girl she cannot enrol. How discriminating!

I love woman centric themes. Nothing has changed in women’s lives. They have access to money & have a right for some decisions but the households run according to the man of the house.
