Read the editorial in the Indian Express. The debate was on whether to carry home made food to the multiplex or not. The court has ruled it out. But the question remains if we need that comfort food outside or not.
The multiplex then provides various popcorn flavours & soft drinks that are expensive. When no outside food is allowed the wafts of flavours makes everyone wish for the hot food served. Again you can have it delivered at your seat!
When we are out in the cinema hall to watch a movie can’t we wait for it to end & then go out to find a new joint? That is the question. If change is what we are after why tag along the familiar food? Try something new!
Our palates develop in the childhood & we rarely wish for something new. Yes, we wish for change but that is limited. I want dosa, I will change the dosa point. But suddenly craving for pizza will rarely happen.
The gen X is more dynamic. They have developed a taste for new foods but the old ‘Dal bhaat’ generation of ours rarely relish a drastic change. Give us our steaming hot rice everyday!
The plates are also fixed. We don’t use cutlery or china plates everyday. No spoons required. Fingers do fine. Washing hands before & after meals is a must. Our habits from childhood can’t change just because variety of food is available outside.
Food maketh the man!
