It is a 2022 Indian Hindi language comedy film. Directed by Satram Ramani. It stars Sonakshi Sinha, Huma Qureshi, Zaheer Iqbal , Mahat Raghavendra with others. The story revolves around two plus size women who discover themselves as they navigate life.
It was released on 4th Nov.2022. It received negative reviews & was a huge box office disaster. Box office collection est. Rs 1. 1222 crore.
Looking at them struggle with their everyday life & yearning for their dreams is real. In fashion world mostly but elsewhere also size 0 is coveted. Body shaming is a part of life. Over size, healthy, chubby or just ‘moti’ are labels which stick for life.
I thoroughly enjoyed the movie. It goes through known twists yet emerges the winner. The love tracks are subtle & never hurt the story. Riding the bus & watching London at close quarters is a plus.
The support cast is perfect. From Kanwaljeet, Shubha Khote, Alka Kaushal, Sachin Shroff, Nikki Aneja all are just there. The two hours length should have been curtailed to less. But we need movies like this without any side stories to enjoy. Without being preachy but saying what needs to be said.
Looking at Sonakshi after so long. I had missed her. A courageous choice for both.. Sonakshi & Huma. It reminds me of a Marathi movie ‘Vazandar’ with Sai Tamhankar & Priya Bapat made in 2016. But it was the struggle to get to size zero. They embark on a weight loss regimen. It was totally different.
Without being ashamed of size, doing work in the society as normals withstanding all the external pressures is the real thing! Attitude matters.
