The Golden Globe nominations for 2023 are out.SS Rajamouli’s RRR has created history. The film’s song Naatu Naatu has been nominated in the Best Original song category. It is sung by Rahul Sipligunj & Kaala Bhairava, composed by MM Keeravani.
It is up in three categories. Best Motion picture (Comedy or Musical), Best non- English Language film & Original song for Naatu Naatu. The 80th Golden Globe Awards will honour the best in film & American television of 2022 on 11th January 2023.
The nomination is an acknowledgement of the film’s immense popularity & impact across the world. Rajamouli’s Bahubali in two parts Raj era action extravaganza transcended linguistic barrier & became a pan-Indian blockbuster. On the international stage, it represents a new stage in the evolution of Indian mainstream cinema’s soft power. In that sense, RRR marks a phenomenon that is both novel & known. Indian Express says.
First Raj Kapoor’s films,upwardly mobile Indians became Bollywood’s crossover offering, more glitz than substance. Rajinikanth films started getting popular with Southern east Asia & Japan.
The two nominations aren’t the most popular categories but cements our belief of being technically sound . It appeals to audiences used to some of the best sequences in the world is something!
As the Indian filmmakers get the confidence to work on bigger budgets & special effects we will have more of these films. It is a time to look ahead for sure.
