Youth Of May

The drama has the same vibes as ‘Rain or Shine’. Never does it come out of the uprising & the looming doom. The skeleton excavated in the first episode is a sure warning of what is going to unfold.

Each episode is titled perfectly.Episode 8th ‘After the door closes’ has the highest viewing of 5.7 % it declines as viewers get a whiff of the looming tragedy. Kim Myung -hee is kidnapped & Hwang Hee-tae visits her hometown in search of her. Naju is where she wants to be but is in Seoul out of his reach.

Watching what his father can do is depressing. One handed power over the lives of so many! He regrets having a relationship with hwang Hee -tae’s mother, a courtesan. But wants him to marry into a rich family to expand his business.

He wants his younger son to study & abandon his dream of being a runner. People should have dreams but they should follow his own aspirations! Isn’t he tired of such roles? Oh Man seok has typical eyes which can scare the daylights of a weak person.I saw him in ‘Crash landing on You’ being the same till the end! Chasing Hyun bin to South Korea & then fatally wounding Son Ye jin.

In contrast, Kim Won hae as Myung hee’s father, a poor watch repairman, has an ailing mother, wife & a son besides her. His son aspires to be a runner. His training & trainers cost him dearly.

Um Hyo -sup is the successful father of Lee Soo chan & Lee Soo -ryeon, a businessman. He wants his daughter to be married into an influential family. He thinks the best for her. His son is slowly trying to set in his own business.

After the opening ceremony, the engagement took place. Unwillingly Hwang hee tae gets engaged to Lee Soo -ryeon. But immediately after the ceremony they realise that they have strong feelings for each other. They run away hand in hand. Many people see them leaving.

Dating someone else after getting engaged is something not done. His world comes crashing when she is missing for 15 hours.

Engrossing drama. But I don’t have a good feeling about it. A bitter-sweet ending is not my choice.
