I had never imagined that I would watch this film. For years it was on the list for Gong Yoo. But no zombies …please! I had to fight back tears with Gong Yoo getting wounded & leaving his daughter with the pregnant lady. Becoming a zombie..God.
Oops! they made her run for safety. Rarely is a lady so pregnant in Korean shows. She had to run with Gong Yoo on the train tracks in Busan. The Engine driver was no more. Sheer action with the softest leads possible. Gong Yoo & Choi Woo shik!!
It gets to be a roller coaster when Gong exits, more in the last half an hour. In the tunnel the lady with the child are seen by the army. They have shooting orders. The child starts singing. They are saved.
The young daughter Kim Su an is now a 16 year old. The woman with her Jung Yu mi, I thought I had seen her somewhere. Just checked & found she was the one who bumped on Chilbong in ‘Reply 1994’! On the stone stairs as he is not looking, he gives her shoes.
Again in ‘What’s wrong with Secretary Kim?’ as Lee Young joon’s friend. Nominated for this movie but did not get the award. The film is the highest grosser all over & Star movies have it dubbed & sub titled.
So Hee as Choi Woo shik’ s girlfriend is so young. Recently she was in “Thirty nine” 2022 & in ‘Welcome to Waikiki 2’ in 2019.
The scene where Ye Soo jung gets separated from her friend. Ok Joo-ri is a tearjerker. Ye soo jung has dark hair. She sports soft, white hair in her later shows. ‘Black Dog’, ‘Prison Playbook’, ‘Strongest Deliveryman’,’Do you like Brahms?’ and many more. She is detached, elegant & ever there to help.
If you like zombies, it is for you. Shows a hero in action, Gong Yoo. As if we liked him less!
“Peninsula” made in 2020 is a stand alone sequel to this movie. It has different cast. Also there are talks about ‘Train to Busan 3 ‘ but nothing is finalised.
