The world known pianist Joon young comes to Korea. He takes a year long sabbatical. If he had stayed away he would never know a violinist, a student. He would never meet his first love again.
‘We chose to express through music’ is the main theme I believe. They talk less & feel more in each other’s company. With their routines meetings are few & far inbetween. The feelings develop gradually & we wait. And wait. Till it is time for more expression.
Both being introverts have the experience of letting the moment go. But now the feelings are so strong it hurts. Being not able to shake away the set patterns & feeling free with each other they carry on.
The rain, umbrella scene is a must , mainstay for every Korean drama, it is different here. He has no umbrella. She gifts him one. He carries it every day with him. To protect her. When she breaks up with him, it rains. He holds the umbrella over her head & asks her to take it. The way they interact, stand & part is so sad.
As the review says the angst in the later episodes seems to drag the story. True. But it also makes the pain severe. The only solace is being denied.
Joon young’s tutor recording his piece & putting it on You tube. The piece is lifted so cleanly. Nothing new. But it creates more stress than it should have. Joon’s friend visits him & Song ah watches her leave his apartment. It is the last straw. She is frustrated & angry.
Culmination of events, one leads to other misunderstanding, nicely depicted. From the admirers of the show I know it is successful. Both the leads getting their awards with the couple award too.
Hope to find them together again in a happier show.
