Shivaram Rajguru

An Indian revolutionary from Maharashtra. Known for his involvement in the assassination of a British police officer , John Saunders. Born in August 1908, he was hanged in 1931 along with Bhagat Singh & Sukhdev Thapar. At a tender age of 23!

Shivram Hari Rajguru was born to Hari Narayan & Parvati bai. They had another son Dinkar. After losing his father when he was six, Dinkar took over the responsibility of the family.

He received his primary education at Khed & later studied in New English high school in Pune. He joined seva dal at a young age. He attended a training camp conducted by Dr N. S. Hardikar at Ghatprabha.

His birth place of Khed was renamed as Rajgurunagar in his honour. It is a town in Khed tehsil of Pune district of Maharashtra.

Very little is found in the history books. Youth of today need to be told tales of all the freedom fighters who got us the freedom we enjoy today.

He died when he wasn’t even 30. But his spirit & zeal remains in our hearts forever. To sacrifice oneself for the nation, not so easy.
