Following the show religiously, also going through the posts every day, anticipating the progress in her sweet romance, dreading the end of the show ! Phew.
The show operates on the cross section of legal drama & human interest story. The show wears it’s heart on the sleeve. Yet it would be wrong to write it off as heartwarming fluff. Wading into the tricky moral territory, it has been even handed in it’s legal stand-offs. Unafraid of challenging it’s audience with contrasting sympathies.
A legal drama where our leads sometimes represent the wrong people & do not always win their cases. That makes them more humane, likable & real.
The most complex was in episode 10, when Young woo witnesses detectives chase & catch a suspect on a subway. The man is charged with ‘quasi rape of a disabled person’. He maintains they love each other. But he has a history of taking advantage of disabled women.
Young woo almost walks off the case but remains on when the victim tells her in private that she loves the man. She was forced by her mother to say otherwise. In the court, Young does not get the testimony she expects. The truth about their relationship becomes even more elusive.
It is more confusing for her because her colleague Lee Jun ho has recently confessed his feelings for her. Her autistic spectrum disorder & his intentions appear genuine but how will this progress remains unclear.
All of us love them. We expect the best for them. But is it enough? Are we forgetting how will she cope with her daily life??
