Our Blues

A South Korean omni-bus style drama , which tells the story of diverse characters that are somewhat inter connected, in one way or the other. Living on Jeju island they often interact & give advice to each other.

Reading a review yesterday made me look at each episode in a different light. Some of the views shared were so like mine, I thought if I had written , I would write like this!

A couple of episodes begin with Jeong Eun hee & Choi Han soo. He comes to Jeju as a bank manager. She is in the fish selling business. He is hard up for money & she has a lot to spare. The bond they shared in the childhood, he tries to revive now. Does he need money? Does he swindle her?

He doesn’t & she is willing to help him out. But we are on pins & needles. We needn’t have worried. She takes good care of herself & helps him. He wires back the money. His family is one again.

In her friend’s case, Mi ran, again she takes the initiative to resolve. She goes to Seoul to patch up. The solution is so simple. It is staring in our eyes. Yet the discomfort is real.

The best handled issue is that of the two fighting parents, single at that, with the teen pregnancy. Beautiful. Certain issues confront us when we are least prepared. The solution is there but we are so much bothered that we fail to see.

The young pair of Bae Hyun-sung & Roh Yoon seo is fantastic. Hope to see them together again. Bae hung sung in ‘Hospital Playlist’ & here again is a delight. What I loved is his similarity with Park Bo gum. They look the same & he has the same vibes. The review suggests that they should be cast as brothers in the next show!

Captain Park with his lady Lee young Ok is a cute pair. From his eyes we knew from the start he has feelings. Their story is another highlight of the show. Not the length the depth matters.

Lee Byung hun with Shin Min-a have a sad story but it twines so well. His story with his mother makes a well deserved end. Caring for each other from a far for years was never going to be easy.

The stories connecting with each other is a real skill & it is in full display. Revisiting made me more nostalgic. A very good drama.
