Kabhi Khushi Kabhi Gham

A 2001 Indian Hindi film, a family drama written & directed by Karan Johar. With big stars like Amitabh Bachchan, Jaya Bhaduri, Shahrukh Khan, Kajol, Hrithik Roshan, Kareena Kapoor it was an expensive film made on a budget of 300 to 400 million.

It was a big hit nationally & internationally. With 1.36 billion it remains one of the highest grossing Indian films. Outside India, it’s record by broken by Johar’s next ‘Kabhi Alvida Naa Kehna’ (2006).

This film promoted with a tagline ‘It’s all about Loving your Parents’ has an adopted son ,Rahul, of a rich couple, is banished by his father when he chooses to marry a middle class woman. Years later his younger brother, Rohan, sets out to find him.

The filming took place in London & Egypt. Due to the popular stars a large crowd would gather & it was difficult to shoot. Also Johar himself fainted on he sets due to stress while dealing with huge stars. He directed later lying on his bed!

A lot of bloopers which we bypass when it comes to nostalgia. For example, if the rich son is disowned by the family, where does he get money to settle in London??!! His house is huge & he lives comfortably.

Also Daijaan who is second mother to Rohan shifts with Rahul, why?? Her married daughter doesn’t need her??

Rahul remains the same after 10 years but Rohan changes. And how?? We want his dietitian’s number & how he changed his eye colour??

Then again, it is a Hindi film, made to entertain you!
