If we look at the viewership it never went above 5%, but the episodes in the end are really interesting. Why they did not manage that tone throughout is a mystery. I especially liked the 11th episode where the mother discovers that her son is dating. By chance.
We are thrilled to see her excited. Small things in life matter. She thanks the girl for being her son’s first love! She leaves them happy but being a mother doesn’t forget to tell them to inform her mother.
In the same episode her mother comes upon them holding each other. ‘What are you guys doing?’ It was expected that she would never approve. She is a past student of Seoul National Univ & expects her daughter to do well. Nothing wrong there. But pushing her hard is.
She hits her child. In front of the boy. Both inappropriate. If the children are 18 they have their opinions. She could easily take her home & scold then. Dragging her away was also okay but not hitting. Setting an example of a hard slap is a strict no no.
How easily parents fall in the trap of hitting their kids to discipline them! It is the same all over the world. But why was she crying? Why was the boy comforting her? Was she upset over something ? …were more important issues to think of.
Parents getting a divorce is traumatic to the children of any age! She had stopped them from separation but now she was thinking if she was wrong then. The parents did not resolve their issues & were together for her sake alone! She lived with her mother & her father had chosen a partner to live with!
The family environment affects the academic excellence of a child. If she was not in the first tier, after studying sincerely, her mother should leave her alone. Pushing her hard was making her miserable. Entry in a reputed univ doesn’t ensure success. She should feel like doing it!
It leaves us to think hard & good.
