It is a Hindi language film made in 2013. Translated as , ‘This youth is crazy’ it is a coming of age romantic comedy film. Directed by Ayan Mukerji & produced by Karan Johar. It stars Ranbir Kapoor, Deepika Padukone. It is their second film together after ‘Bachna Ae Haseeno’ 2008.
Released in May 2013,it was a box office hit. It is very popular among the youth.It has gone on to achieve cult status.Made on a budget of 40 crores it went on to fetch 319 crores.
After her ‘Om Shanti Om’ Deepika has never looked back. She dazzles in every film. She is good in any role assigned to her. This talented actress has three filmfare awards & one of the 100 most influential people in the world in 2018.
In ‘Piku’ she is serious & carries her responsibilities to a tee. With her co-stars like Amitabh Bachchan & Irrfan, she stands tall. How a cranky, constipated parent controls life of his daughter is beautifully depicted. It is a real gem.
Ranbir Kapoor is also an accomplished actor. But his choices later gave him a set back. From losing is current girlfriend , Deepika he lost on good roles. At present happily married to his actor wife, Alia Bhatt, he looks settled.
Kalki Koechlin is a French actress but has lived mostly in India. She has assayed a variety of roles till date. ‘Margarita with a straw’, Dev D, ‘Zindagi na milegi Dobara’ to name a few.
Her partner here, Aditya Roy Kapoor is under utilised. He keeping on drinking & his character just doesn’t stand out. His ‘Ashiqui 2 ‘with Shraddha kapoor was a massive hit.In ‘Ludo’ or ‘Jaanu’ his presence was just not felt. He won best supporting actor for ‘Yeh jawaani hai Deewani’
Deepika & Ranbir sitting atop near a palace , watching sunset is one of my favourite scenes. She so casually says, ” Zindagi mein kuch to chutne wala hai. Jaane ki jaldi mein yeh sunset na chut jaye..’ He is a man in rush. He wants to do everything in life, which is not possible. Not being preachy she is so direct , puts it simply.
Also their last scene where he proposes is one of the best. Such moments make it worth watching. Paisa vasool.
