A 2015 Hindi film starring Ranbir Kapoor & Deepika Padukone. The film has music by AR Rahman. More than ‘Matargashti’ the other ‘Heer toh badi sad hai…’ is better. Deepika won the Best actor of the year & Irshad Kamil for the best lyricist.
Ved & Tara meet in Corsica while on a holiday. They decide to keep their identities a secret. He introduces himself as ‘Don’ & she is ‘Mona darling’, the iconic filmi characters. I have seen ‘Matargashti’ a zillion times but it is relevant only when the context is clear. When they meet again in Delhi she realises he is not the carefree man she met in Corsica. He has changed.
As his Borderline Personality disorder is triggered, he makes wrong decisions. He reaches Shimla to find answers. The old story teller does not have answers. He realises he has the answers within him. He confronts her in Japan, where she has travelled to for work.
The small things have been explored so well. Imtiaz Ali gives us another gem. But cannot beat his ‘Jab we met’! Same story, same cast cannot give us another classic, I firmly believe.
Another flick I started on was ‘Yeh Jawani Hai Diwani’. Looking at Deepika I marvel at her range of emotions. Good looking but Ranvir falls short. He has a set of expressions. He is good in ‘Burfi’ but PC is better. He is good in ‘Wake up Sid’ but Konkana is miles away. She is totally in a different league. Most of his films has him as a rich boy with little worries.
The final scene when he bows to Deepika & then falls on the ground to salute is the best! She is at that level.
She has talked with her eyes & her hurt is evident in her eyes.Their breakup scene earlier is shot so well. Her face mirrors her emotions. It is a delight to have a complete actor. Kudos.
