Revisiting 83 gave me immense pleasure. I knew exactly what comes next, I was prepared. I could see the efforts made by Kabir Khan. Not a successful venture as any of his Salman movies but he is as honest.
Box office is a tricky thing. All the pundits together cannot predict the success of a particular movie, a runaway success is equally difficult. If during emergency, ‘Jai Santoshi Maa’ was the show stealer, nobody cared about those actors later. If you happen to watch them in any other movie of theirs … nothing special.
The spirit of the game & the interaction between the players is as authentic as can be. As Kapli himself admitted once in one of his interviews, the dressing room comments are not for your ears. True. What conspires is a secret, well guarded forever. It remains that.
The game , the playground is holy & the devotees in hoards. The fence notwithstanding, the players run for their lives once the game is over. It was then & it is the same today. The admirers coming in the field. Many a times the game has to be stopped for such overzealous.
A classic win by Kerala over West bengal in the Santosh trophy in football in the finals was nail biting. The game is not over till the last ball is bowled. How true. The word ‘Santosh’ means happiness, joy. The game retaining the joy of playing is of paramount importance. The sport should shine & not the jeering or ridicule.
Sportsman spirit to be salvaged from it’s obscurity. Putting the stars on the podium has made us forget about the competition, the healthy rivalry…
Let the games regain their true form….
