The social norms

They dictate that the individual remains within the societal norms. The child born out of wedlock is frowned upon. But it does happen. How to avoid & guide the wayward is the challenge.

The woman faces the taboo & the man goes scott free. Isn’t their guilt on their minds??? Labelling the woman, scorning her or looking down on her is easy. Who brings her the pain & the angvish?

Many a ladies have risen above the mundane & cared for their child through all prejudices. The number may be few but her freedom is compromised. She then lives only for her child. The young widows in households had it tough. They had coarse saries to wear & their heads shaven. Their potential was never explored fully. ‘Lokmanya ‘ has a scene where Agarkar asks him to look at his sister’s plight.

Today suspecting the character is a easy weapon used against the lady. “Casting couches’ may or maynot exist but meaty roles are bagged by the real daredevils. Women as a part of the workforce is as old as hills but the acceptance isn’t. A newly wed has the same old battle to fight.

With a child the stress inceases manyfold. But then that is life! How long will it take to correct the views, one doesn’t know.
